At Lidder Care we put a key focus on social activities at both Lowmoor Nursing Home and Newgate Lodge Care Home. We have created fun and safe environments in both of our care homes to allow our residents to socialise and have dedicated Activities Coordinators who provide a great range of stimulating, person centred activities as well as regular outings. Downstairs you will find Silver Birch, a 14 bedded specialist unit for ladies. Upstairs we have two more specialist units, an 18 bedded all unit called Oaks for the gentlemen in our care and also a 10 bed nursing care unit called Cedars that is home to residents with all types of dementia and physical care needs. "A clean and up to date environment, always very welcoming, someone always available if we need to talk. Both my mother-in-law and father-in-law live in Newgate Lodge. My mother-in-law is upstairs and my father-in-law is downstairs. Both have their needs met really well and the staff have genuine care and respect for them both." There are plenty of travel links to facilitate regular visits and days out when it is safe to do so. Due to covid-19 risks we are not currently inviting visitors in the home; however, we can arrange video calls with residents to help them stay in touch with loved ones. We aim to get everything in place that we possibly can to make the transition into nursing care smooth.

"My partner came to Lowmoor from hospital suffering from dementia. She has been a resident since December. She is well looked after, clean and the staff interact well with her. Lowmoor Carehome
We have been awarded the Dementia Quality Mark for providing excellent support to our residents. The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator of health and social care in England. It monitors and inspects services, to make sure they are safe, effective and provide high-quality care. Inside the home we have a total of 42 single bedrooms across our 3 units which are separated by gender and the level of care needed.
We are paid by our participating communities, therefore our service is offered at no charge to families. Dementia care is specifically catered to the challenges that those living with the dementia face at the various stages of dementia. All of our care plans are person-centred, meaning we recognise individuals’ abilities and strengths, whilst encouraging and assisting in maintaining independence where possible.

Outside the home we have a gated courtyard with flowers, plants and seating for residents to enjoy where we hold outdoor activities and events. We have secure keypad entry to the various sections of the home to keep residents safe. All of our facilities are well kept by our excellent housekeeping service to ensure the residents have a clean and tidy environment. – there are some services which we can’t rate, while some might be under appeal from the provider. "My brother is very happy to live here. He is well cared for and gets on well with everyone including the staff. I find all the staff very caring and always willing to help. All the staff are always pleasant when I visit. Myself being a carer for 28 years I would highly recommend this care home to anyone needing care."
